David Guez (born 1954, Tunisia) is a contemporary painter whose practice has developed into a distinctive contribution to contemporary abstraction. Having lived in Paris and Los Angeles before moving to Jerusalem, Guez cultivates a visual language that moves beyond geographical and cultural boundaries, articulating a universal aesthetic grounded in presence, silence, and attention.
Guez’s work has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows at The Hub, D&M and Rothschild galleries in Tel Aviv, alongside major group exhibitions such as Personal Structures: Reflections, an official collateral exhibition of the Venice Biennale held at Palazzo Bembo and organized by the European Cultural Centre (2022)
In 2025 Guez’s paintings entered the Rothko Museum Collection in Latvia -a recognition that underscores the increasing institutional attention his work has begun to receive.
David Guez picked up where Rothko did not finish. His works are complex worlds, visionary flashes, sudden revelations... often restless, but always elegant in their talented construction.

There is both timelessness and immediacy. Each abstract mark is an expression, an expulsion of energy, a statement. Like a Morse code, Guez creates a visual language through mark making, conveying his own personality, psychological state and commentary on the world we live in.

David Guez transforms the canvas into a field of vibrant energies, creating landscapes that invite reflection and meditation. He is a master of contemporary expression, able to create gestural compositions that vibrate with life and spirituality. Each of Guez’s paintings is an open door to a parallel universe, where art becomes meditation and introspection.

We all took a close look at David, we like him, he has an immediate impact on those who view his works. I do see a lot of artists every day and define him as minimalist, few signs, but identifiable and very aesthetic.
